we have arrived in Boston

The last time we blogged we had just arrived in New york, after our horrific greyhound bus journey were we nearly got stabbed with a tire iron. New York was amazing, we went to the empire state building, walked round most of Brooklyn, walked the Brooklyn bridge, strolled through central park, walked the whole of 5th avenue and went to see Mary Poppins on Broadway which Judith loved. A and F was packed and very dark so sorry chloe i couldnt get u a hoody!!

we also went to the cinema on our last night in New York, to see Dinner with schmucks, the cinema sells food like fries, chicken strips and cheesie sticks, we are totally writing a letter to the cinema in newry making a few suggestions. so the film we went to see was a comedy and well the other cinema watchers really got into it, while jud and I were having a quiet giggle to ourselves the other peeps however were having a great old time laughing out loud and clapping every now and again, sometimes they were making that much noise we couldnt hear the film. On one of our shopping days a man in a shop asked Judith did she play football, because of how wide she is, but made me giggle, not judith as you cn imagine!! Our best buy in new york was a 2 day pass for a bus tour, where u could hop on hop off, this 2 day pass turned into a four day pass as they did not check the tickets.

After 4 fun filled days we went to catch the greyhound again, we had already paid for it in advance and i wouldnt let judith talk us into gettin a train instead to Boston.

The greyhound journey to Boston was very civilised and much more pleasant with more normal looking people on board!! we even got our extra bag on which we had to buy in order to transport all our recent purchases!!

After a 30 dollar cab fare to our hotel we decided that car rental was the way forward, so we are now driving a lovely silver hyundai accent passion wagon which is about 1999!! Judith is stressed with the driving, as Bert our new sat nav isnt as quick as Rita!! we miss her!!

We spent today doing what we do best, SHOPPING, it really doesnt take us very long finding the old Gallerias!! however funds in my case our running low!! judith made us sight see first though, so we went to a brewery as it was free, and had a non-alcoholic root beer. We then went along the freedom trail.

Tomorrow we plan on heading to the beach to do a spot of sun bathing and maybe go look round Harvard university!! Judith thinks she is going to get in for a masters!

Only two days left and then its home to the rain and work!! Delightful!

Greyhound Experience

Having dropped off the car in one piece in Nashville in order to get to new york we were taking the Greyhound which Faith had recommended to us!! On Sat morning we got a taxi over to the station with our very large and heavy bags (overweight by 2kg only each), upon arrival we found the greyhound station to be a scary place, there were a lot of random people hanging around plus two police officers, why they were needed we could only imagine. !

The first half of our journey was from nashville to cleveland, with many stops in between which involved us getting off the bus, waiting around for half an hour and reboarding. The first stop was in Louisville, Kentucky, the journey to this first stop was 3 hours, we had already spent 2 hours in the station, we were both a little concerned about the journey ahead and the station in Kentucky was full of big savages. There had been some commotion in the station when we had arrived, a woman was shouting at the sheriff on duty that a man had stolen 100 dollars from her, he didn't seem to pay much attention however 15 mins later she came running in, screaming that she was going to sue the sheriff as the man had just stabbed her with a tire iron/wheel brace!! there was blood running down her neck and chest like everywhere, well Judith went as white as a sheet and we both thought we were going to vomit and/or die, however no one else seemed to think this was out of the ordinary!!

Then at another one of our many stops, another man asked Judith had she seen the film Taken, now for any one who hasn't seen Taken, its about 2 girls who go on holiday and end up being kidnapped and sold as wives/love slaves!! its very scary especially for us girls, in the film one girl is rescued by her father who was CIA, I think in our case Harry and Sammy wouldn't be able to do much for us. When Judith told the man, yes I have seen it and it was very scary.. He laughed and said, no it is an action movie!! Judith said, oh right, must not be the same one then and got the flock out of there!

The last part of the journey was from cleveland to New york which took nearly 11 hours, our bus driver was the lovely laura who was far from lovely, she was a big big girl who weighed about 300lbs. Judith called her the big savoury savage! She insisted on eating and driving at the same time!! At one point she also poured a bottle of juice into a cup (all whilst driving at 70mph) she also had to pull over to pee, she also was very rude to me, I asked her what stop I had to get off for New york and she made fun of me. Well she will be sorry when I write a letter to the greyhound people!!

We left Nashville saturday 2.15pm and arrived in New York 1.00pm!! our hotel or rather hostel is located 2 minutes from Times square. We purchased a three day tour bus ticket and have been hopping on and off for the past two days. We have walked the Brooklyn bridge and basically most of Brooklyn as my mzp reading skills werent up to much. We have seen quite a lot of the attractions, and so tomorrow we are going spend more time sight seeing, hopefully catch a show in the evening and spend all day wednesday helping wall street recover from the crash by sharing our money with Manhattan!

After spending a whole day on the greyhound, wishing we haven't given up the car and spending this morning showering in a shower that 20 other people had used before us we both came to the conclusion that we are snobs. But we are happy that way!

We move on to Boston on Thursday morning... To get the greyhound or not to... We probably will.. Sure it's a story for the blog if nothing else!

We also are as pink as lobsters due to getting a roasting today. Judith's forehead is a particular treat! She says that sun cream aint for no pansies!
